Existing perimeter planters consisting of outdated and overgrown vegetation were redesigned to coincide with the building’s renovations. The minimalist planting design focused on a horizontal and volumetric approach with a contrasting plant palette that responded to the planters’ geometric forms and to the site’s varying and extreme climatic conditions. Integral to the plant selection was an emphasis on seasonal and textural interest and to provide a year-round backdrop for the existing public art.
