THE SALVATION ARMY CENTRE OF HOPE COMMUNITY GARDENS
The Salvation Army
A small, neglected parcel of land was rescued and repurposed to become a community garden to provide urban agricultural programmes and pollinator gardens for The Salvation Army Centre of Hope. The gardens’ framework is organized by galvanized planters for vegetable gardens, a fruiting serviceberry tree-line and boulders for seating. Floriferous pollinator gardens define the street frontage and envelop the existing metal fence to visually link the private and public spaces. A unit paver ‘welcome mat’ articulates an arrival court, guiding users through the gates and into the lush gardens for all to experience and enjoy.
