HILLSIDE DRIVE GARDEN

LOCATION
London, Ontario

A deep sunken back yard with established vegetated edges begged for an intervention to fill in a gap to provide continuous privacy, a visually intriguing backdrop and spatial enclosure. Two staggered, tall, wooden screens oriented on an angle to reference the primary viewing perspective are individually organized in three horizontal sections with varying board and slat configurations. Two deliberate breaks reveal a depth of field and provide shadow play that is reinforced by their shifted alignment that permits access to a composter located in the back corner.
